Stems and Branches Acupuncture

Constitutional Acupuncture, traditionally know as Stems & Branches Acupuncture, is a branch of Acupuncture concerned with the maintenance of health and treatment of disease by considering a person’s innate nature which is being revealed through the individual’s birth chart.
The emphasis when treating lies in promoting and nurturing each individual’s natural, inherent vitality, to allow it to unfold so they can follow the path most aligned with their essential nature.
Along this path, each individual will encounter their own specific challenges which can manifest on a physical, emotional, mental or spiritual level. Being rooted in and aligned with one’s essence, there is strength and courage to face these challenges which can lead to inner transformation and development.
Objective of this website
This website is to honour the legacy of the late J.D. van Buren and his life-long professional dedication to make the Philosophy of Stems & Branches practically applicable. According to him, medicine and therefore Acupuncture, should be based on philosophy, philosophy not as a dogmatic system, but as a tool to understand each individual and to give guidance for a meaningful life full of vitality.
This work is being continued by Joan Duveen and many of his students.
The goal of this website is to create a meeting place for Acupuncturists and people with genuine interest in Constitutional Acupuncture and the Philosophy of Stems & Branches. It will hopefully serve as a source for information, education and constructive exchange and dialogue so the essence of Constitutional Acupuncture can flourish, emanate and serve life and humanity.
